Joanna Yarrow, IKEA’s Country Sustainability Manager says “we always strive to find new ways to develop products which are better for the environment and the people in the countries we source from – for instance, by minimising waste in production, generating our own renewable energy or choosing sustainable materials – Linen is one of those materials. Besides being a natural material it is strong and long-lasting, becoming more beautiful with age. The natural fibres in linen create subtle variations in the surface which gives the bed-linen a distinctive texture and matte lustre. Linen also helps the body to maintain a comfortable, even temperature all through the night, because it breathes and absorbs moisture. Today we use 100% linen from Belgium and France in our quilt cover and pillowcase LINBLOMMA”.
