As part of the recent LONDON DESIGN FESTIVAL, the Restless Futures exhibition at Central St Martins showcased a global mix of recent CSM graduates who are shaping future design practice.
Work for the exhibition was organised around four themes: Disruptive Technologies, Democratising Innovation, ,No More Stuff? and Expanded Boundaries.
Part of Disruptive Technologies, Jane Scott’s Mutate: Responsive Textiles for Architecture, locates smart textile design at the intersection of biomimicry and responsive material systems. Using the inherent properties of linen combined with yarn and knit structure, Jane designs and develops 100% natural, shape changing, responsive knitted fabrics which question the conventional material systems necessary to create smart textiles.

LIBECO and Club Masters of Linen were sponsors of the RESTLESS FUTURES exhibition and every surface in the show was covered in linen which will be upcycled and used by the Textile and Fashion courses.
